Study Study Study

Lately I have been sitting at my 'desk' all day studying for my upcoming exams. And by 'desk' I mean kitchen table. See, the thing is, we have a small two bedroom cottage. When I say two bedroom, there is the room we sleep in, and then there is what we call the 'baby's room', which is actually basically a storage cupboard. I actually hope we will be in a bigger place by the time we decide to have a baby.

So while I sit at the kitchen table, I long to have an office space so that I can study in the same room as I keep all my stationary and books. At the moment, I have to pack everything up and shove it into the 'baby's room' before dinner, then get it all out again later!

Naturally, this leads me well away from study, and onto the worldwide web where I start dreaming of having a beautiful office!!

Here are some of my faves:

Don't you love this last one with the gorgeous fluffy chair? I might be keen to study a bit more if I had an office like this!

To everyone else out there who has exams coming up, good luck! I hope you are more prepared than I am.

Friday Letters

Dear Spring: We had enough rain and wind in winter; please bring us some sunshine and warmer weather.

Dear Spiced Berry Drink: You are the only thing getting me through these wintery spring days.

Dear Gossip Girl: Oh how I will miss you.  Can’t wait for next season! In New Zealand season 5 has just finished.

Dear Fellow Bloggers: Thank you all for the constant inspiration, you talented, beautiful ladies!

Dear Labour Weekend: Why is it that almost every long weekend in New Zealand falls around exam time? Oh how I long for the day when study is over and I can enjoy you like the rest of the working world does!

Creamy Bacon, Spinach, and Sage Vermicelli

Creamy Bacon, Spinach and Sage Vermicelli

This is a very quick and easy pasta dish that can be whipped up in 20 minutes, and you can use whatever you have in the fridge or vege garden.  I used silverbeet and parsley from my garden, but you can use mushrooms or capsicum.  You could swap the bacon for chicken breast or smoked salmon.

3 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic
1 onion
2 rashers of bacon
200g vermicelli
Few handfuls of spinach or silverbeet
½ cup cream
Sea salt
Black Pepper
Nutmeg
Sage
Parsley
Parmesan

Cook the vermicelli in a pot of boiling salted water until al dente.  Add the spinach half way through cooking.

Add the butter to a large pan and sauté the garlic, onion and bacon for a few minutes until soft.  Add the cream, bring to the boil, and simmer for several minutes.  Season with sea salt, black pepper and nutmeg.

Add the drained spinach and vermicelli, and quarter a cup of reserved pasta water.  Cook for a further 2-3 minutes.

Before serving, top with crispy fried sage leaves, parsley and shaved parmesan.

Serves 2-3.

Enjoy!

Pinspiration

What better way is there to get over the mid-week dreariness than by looking for some inspiration on Pinterest.  Here are a few pins I've been admiring lately:

Gorgeous kittens get me every time! We are still searching for one, and in the mean time I keep myself sane by looking at cute kitties on the internet.

Corners of my home: Bedroom

Some sneak peaks of our bedroom.

How to get the look:

The 'LOVE'sign is simply made of wooden letters that have been covered with scrapbook paper.

The plates have been collected from op shops for next to nothing, and are just blu-tacked to the wall (I can't resist a good plate wall!).  I tried to get some plates that were a unique shape, and mixed them in with plainer ones!
